Wow, week 8 already! I’m kind of impressed I’ve kept this up this long. And if I’m also being honest, I’m not sure how I’m going to keep up with it in the next few weeks. This baby is due any day now (I feel like I’ve been saying that for weeks) and I don’t know how much my life is going to change once he or she gets here. I’m 41 weeks and 2 days today so we’re really getting down to it! I’m going to keep up with these daily draws as much as I’m able, but I’m also not going to guilt myself if I’m too tired to keep it going in the next few weeks. We’ll see.
All told this project has been really therapeutic for me so far, and it’s so fun to see how my drawings are progressing. I love having the freedom to draw whatever I want everyday and this activity goes so well with my morning cup of coffee.
5/10: Day 50
I don’t really know where this cutie guy came from, I guess he’s kind of a mix between a mouse and koala? I like how he turned out, I’m really trying to push myself to try different shading styles both with pencil and ink. Shading is one of those things, there’s a million different ways to do it, and you can have a lot of fun mixing it up in different drawings. These mini sketches are the perfect opportunity to do so!
5/11: Day 51
A cute little ghost for today. I saw that this Friday is Friday the 13th and was inspired to make something cute and spooky. I guess he’s really way more cute than he is spooky! I’m playing with backgrounds as much as possible, and while I still have a lot of trouble drawing realistic things in the background, it’s fun to just draw patterns and designs too!
5/12: Day 52
A fun little Micron robot for today. I love drawing robots for the same reason as monsters, there’s very few rules and you can just make up the design as you go. This guy turned out super cute but I think he could use some color!
5/13: Day 53
I made this little guy with a ballpoint pen, one of my fave art supplies. This particular pen was kind of crappy, which is why it’s so scratchy, but I still love it!
